There is a voice in your head that has an opinion about everything you do, and this Little Voice is holding you back.
I know mine is there ALL THE TIME – with every decision I make, every risk I consider, when I grapple between being a great mom and being a great business owner, when I hire people (and worse when I fire people), buying new locations… It’s there when I post on social media, heck even when I look in the mirror… and man that little voice doesn’t feel so little.
It says things like: “You’re not smart enough for this. Who do you think you are? What if you fail? What will people think?
That voice is called the Little Voice. And for most people, most leaders, and especially most women, it is the single biggest obstacle standing between where we are and where we want to be.
It’s not the economy holding you back. Not your competition. Not a cash or time shortage or the rough season, it’s that damn little voice!
But here is what I have learned! It doesn’t have to continue to control you: you can master it.
I joined a network with Jason Everett at HPSA (High Performance Salon Academy) in 2017 where I learned one foundational truth I now live by: my career, my business, my success will never outgrow me as the owner. And yours won’t either! Read that again.
Listen: I am a systems and numbers girly but the reality still is that no system, no team, no marketing strategy, no budget guideline will take your business further than you are personally capable of leading it.
Investing in yourself; your mindset, your confidence, and your ability to make clear decisions without second-guessing everything is the most important business investment you will ever make.
Personal development has always been at the core of what we do at The Headroom, at Peak Beauty and definitely at HPSA. Without fail, professional results (the numbers, the team, the growth) are always amplified or limited by personal development. The two are inseparable, and so many times I see peoples’ Little Voice holding them back.
For me, the pillar of this work has been built on one foundational program: The Little Voice Mastery Program (LVMP)
The Little Voice Mastery Program, created by Blair Singer, is one of the most powerful tools I have ever brought into my work and I am excited to bring my not so secret strategy to the blog today!
The Little Voice is the inner narrator that runs in the background of everything you do. It was shaped by years of conditioning — by parents, teachers, peers, experiences, and moments you might not even consciously remember — and it filters how you see yourself, your potential, and what you believe you’re capable of.
For many of us, that conditioning was not kind.
I know this personally. As a young salon owner, my Little Voice was loud. “You’re not smart enough / experienced enough / ready for this”. Even as the business grew, even as the results spoke for themselves, that voice would show up in moments of decision —and it would steal my confidence right when I need it most.
And I hear versions of the same voice from almost every salon owner and beauty entrepreneur I work with, and I know it’s certainly not isolated to my industry – it gets us all, doesn’t matter your gender, your job, your relationship status or your bank account – we all have one! But the good news is, we can do the work to master it.
It won’t go away but it can now be a guiding beacon to serve you instead of sabotaging you.
I hate that saying! Now don’t get me wrong- I am a bit woo-woo too, after all if you ever met my mom you know I have been having Aura readings and intuitive in my life since the womb. But here’s the thing: if our gut is tied to subconscious negative beliefs that are telling us all the things I listed before, is that really serving us?
What if instead of getting that feeling of I don’t belong here – instead I strategically stop and say – who am I not to be in this room? How would I feel if someone else was speaking about this topic I have poured into, what if I got help and it created more jobs? Now that gut feeling becomes a beacon to pause and explore, rather than to sabotage me.
Since doing this work myself, the changes have been profound and they’ve shown up in every area of my life, not just my business.
And perhaps most importantly: when I feel confident in myself, the way I show up for other people is always better. I have more empathy. More patience. More capacity to hold space for the people on my team who are going through their own growth edges.
Confidence isn’t arrogance. It’s a gift you give to everyone around you.
The salon owners and beauty entrepreneurs who go through this program come out the other side with something that no business course, no marketing strategy, and no operational system can give them: an unshakeable belief in themselves and the tools to maintain it and that is what changes everything else.
In 2023, I was honoured to become certified with HPSA to facilitate this program and over and over again I am in awe of the transformations it uncovers.

The Little Voice Mastery Program runs over six weeks: one call per week, one on one with a mentor.
During those six weeks, we work together to uncover the bigger, better version of you that you have always aspired to be. We identify your biggest goals and aspirations and the Little Voices and fears that have been holding you back, sometimes for years, and we systematically dismantle them using Blair Singer’s proven framework of 20 tools to reprogram your brain so it works with you instead of against you to help you achieve more in 6 weeks then most can accomplish in 12 months.
You will come in with self-doubt and leave with a blueprint for your most authentic, most powerful self. This is not passive learning, it takes commitment and courage, it is transformational work.
An extra note to beauty professionals:
Here’s something I’ve observed after years of working in and coaching within the beauty industry: we are a profession that focuses deeply on outer expression, on helping people look and feel their best on the outside. And that work is meaningful and powerful. But it can also create a blind spot.
When you spend your days helping others feel beautiful, confident, and seen, it’s easy to neglect your own inner world. To pour into everyone else and leave very little for yourself. To focus so much on surface-level results that the deeper work, the mindset work, the confidence work, the identity work, gets pushed aside.
The beauty industry also attracts people who are searching for a way to express themselves. People who didn’t always fit the traditional mold, who found their place behind a chair or behind a desk in a salon because it let them be creative, be authentic, be free.
You are my people, the creatives, the rebels, the ones who had to fight a little harder to find where they belonged and I know you often carry Little Voices that are particularly loud. So my call to you is to lean into personal work, not just the next blonding class, I promise your investment in yourself will pay itself back 10X!
We help people look like their best selves on the outside. Personal development, like The Little Voice Mastery Program, helps you and the people you serve feel it on the inside.
That combination is the real transformation your clients and team are looking for!
Another resource, because I never gate-keep.
If you’re looking to just dip your toe into mastering your Little Voice, I highly recommend Blair’s book: Little Voice Mastery by Blair Singer
For the past 3 years I have offered this program exclusively to members inside High Performance Salon Academy and am now offering it publicly for those who are ready to do the work.
There are only 2 spots remaining in 2026. Now I do want to be transparent with you: this is intimate, one on one work. I keep the number of programs I offer limited intentionally because the depth of transformation requires real attention, real conversation, and real space for each person I coach.
If you have been waiting for a sign that it’s time to do the inner work, to finally address the voice that keeps you small, keeps you second-guessing, and keeps your business from reaching the level you know it’s capable of, and you want to finish 2026 strong with undeniable momentum going into 2027
